Statement from Provincial Synod of Southeast Asian (31st January 2018) on ACNA

The Synod of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia, at the 2nd Meeting of its 6th Session in Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia, from 29th to 31st January, 2018

31st January 2018

Acknowledging the establishment of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) in 2009 by former members of The Episcopal Church in the United States and the Anglican Church of Canada, having disassociated themselves from revised teachings with respect to human sexuality and marriage,

Recalling that in 2010 the Global South Primates meeting in Singapore welcomed the formation of the ACNA as a faithful expression of Anglicanism, and

Noting the admission of ACNA as a partner province to the Global South in 2015 by the Primates of the Global South,

Recognising that the orders of priests in the ACNA have been recognised by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, under the Overseas and Other Clergy (Ministry and Ordination) Measure 1967,

Now it is hereby resolved,

That the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia recognises ACNA as an Ecclesiastical Province in its own right and affirms its full communion with the archbishop, bishops, clergy and laity of ACNA.
