Archbishop warns Anglican conservatives - Daily Telgraph (UK)

The Archbishop of York has warned conservative Anglican leaders that they will effectively expel themselves from the worldwide Church if they boycott next year’s Lambeth Conference.
Dr John Sentamu said the conservatives risked severing themselves from the Anglican Communion
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Telegraph, Dr John Sentamu pleaded with them to attend the conference despite their war with liberals over homosexuality.
But he told them that if they “voted with their feet” they risked severing their links with the Archbishop of Canterbury and with historic Anglicanism, a breach that could take centuries to heal.
“Anglicanism has its roots through Canterbury,” he said. “If you sever that link you are severing yourself from the Communion. There is no doubt about it.”
The archbishop’s outspoken comments will dismay conservatives, who blame the liberals for bringing the Church to the brink of schism by consecrating Anglicanism’s first openly gay bishop in 2003.
A handful of archbishops and hundreds of bishops from Africa and Asia, representing well over a third of the 70 million strong worldwide Church, are threatening to boycott the Lambeth Conference, the 10-yearly gathering of all Anglican bishops in Canterbury. They are angry that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has invited liberal American bishops.

Conservative leaders are now planning an alternative summit, which would destroy Dr Williams’s efforts to hold the factions together.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Dr Sentamu told the conservatives that there could not be a meaningful alternative to the official conference.
He said that the primates - the archbishops and senior bishops who head the 38 self-governing provinces that make up the Anglican Communion - had always seen the Archbishop of Canterbury as “a primate among equals but nonetheless as primus inter pares [first among equals]”.
“If that goes and they think they can then say they are Anglicans, that is very questionable,” he said. “Whatever you set up, I don’t think it could ever be called the Anglican Communion.
“So I am hoping that my brothers and sisters, whatever they are trying to set out, will come to the Lambeth Conference.”
Dr Sentamu, a close ally of Dr Williams, said that as long as Anglican bishops did not deny the basic Christian doctrines they should all be able to remain within the same Church.
While liberal north Americans disagreed with conservatives over sexual ethics, these were not core issues, he said.
If the conservatives boycotted Lambeth “they would be the ones voting with their feet and saying, as far as we are concerned, we are the true Anglicans”.
He added: “Whenever we break there is a lot of pain and the healing of it is very difficult. I want to warn people, don’t spend the next century trying to find a way back.”
But he also warned the American bishops that Dr Williams reserved the right to withdraw their invitations if they were not prepared to engage in the decision-making processes of the Communion in the future.
Dr Sentamu, a former judge in Uganda who was forced to flee the regime of Idi Amin, also criticised the Government for passing too much legislation, which he warned was eroding freedom.
“The more you write down your laws and have more of them, my view is that you are becoming less and less of a free society,” he said.
He was concerned at the wealth gap, urging those on a big salary to put some of it back into the community. He said more needed to be done to combat poverty.
TEC…THE APOSTATE CHURCH--TEC has accepted as “truth” a multitude of false doctrines without questioning the messages they hear. It is too easy to accept the messages of the “anointed” ministers that are so quick to say, “Thus saith the Lord.” Jesus told of those very “ministers” when He said that “many in that day” would say to Him, “Lord, Lord, we did all these things in your Name.” But Jesus’ reply to them will be, “Depart from me. I never knew you.”
2 Timothy 3:13-But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Now let me get this straight-Homosexual Marriage or rituals where “historic Anglicanism” and is ‘not’ a Breach of Anglicanism or God’s Laws and Commandment that would ‘not’ take centuries to heal.
“Anglicanism has its roots through Canterbury,” he said. “If you sever that link you are severing yourself from the Communion. There is no doubt about it.”
Let’s put that statement in perspective, and turn it around so they can see their arrogance.
Canterbury has its roots through the Bible-God’s Laws and Commandments, he said. If you sever God’s Commandments and Laws, you are severing yourselves from God and the Communion. There is no doubt about it.
Posted by on 07/24 at 09:42 PM“Dr Sentamu, a close ally of Dr Williams, said that as long as Anglican bishops did not deny the basic Christian doctrines they should all be able to remain within the same Church.” [In other words-any pervert can be a bishop, lay, etc just as long as you don’t deny the “basic” Christian doctrines"] You have got to be kidding.
“While liberal north Americans disagreed with conservatives over sexual ethics, these were not core issues, he said [In other words-we Socialist Liberals Dr. Williams, Sentamu, Canterbury have no problems with homosexuality or other sexual orientations(“sexual ethics”), that conform with Modern English laws(political correctness), Here you have it folks. They are telling you who they are--Modernist. Who cares what God’s Laws and Commandments are-we at Canterbury consider things in the Bible that address sexual immorality and other issues sic as “not core issues”. Canterbury will define what core issues are and if you don’t like it-we will smite thee].
Some Canterbury history- At the time of his translation, Tyndales’ New Testament had been labeled as “seditious material” by Henry VIII and copies discovered on ships reaching English ports were confiscated and destroyed. William Warham, archbishop of Canterbury, even went so far as to buy all the copies he could get in Europe in order to destroy them. Don’t be fooled by the title Archbishop of Canterbury.
Archbishop of Canterbury is in breach of God’s Commandments- the 1599 Geneva Bible states in Romans:
21 Because that when they knew God, they 1glorified
him not as God, neither were thankful, but became
2vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was
full of darkness.
22 When they 1professed themselves to be wise,
they became fools.
23 For they turned the glory of the 1incorruptible
God to the similitude of the image of a corruptible
man, and of birds, and four footed beasts, and of
creeping things.
24 1Wherefore 2also God 3gave them up to their
hearts lusts, unto uncleanness, to defile their own
bodies between themselves:
25 Which turned the truth of God unto a lie, and
worshipped and served the creature, forsaking the
Creator which is blessed forever, Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up to vile affections:
for even their women did change the natural
use into that which is against nature.
27 And likewise also the men left the natural use
of the woman, and burned in their lust one toward
another, and man with man wrought filthiness, and
received in themselves such 1recompense of their
error, as was meet.
28 1For as they regarded not to acknowledge God,
even so God delivered them up unto a 2reprobate mind,
to do those things which are not convenient,
29 Being full of all unrighteousness, fornication,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy,
of murder, of debate, of deceit, taking all things in
the evil part, whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, doers of wrong,
proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient
to parents, without understanding, 1covenant breakers,
without natural affection, such as can never be
appeased, merciless.
31 Which men, though they knew the 1Law of
God, how that they which commit such things are
worthy of death, yet not only do the same, but also
2favor them that do them.
There is only one question left: Do you stand with God’s Laws and Commandments or do you stand with The Archbishop of Canterbury?22 When they 1professed themselves to be wise,
they became fools.Posted by on 07/24 at 11:26 PMGary Morrow who has made 3 comments above, all of which are much more adequate than any I can make has said it all.
My statement is this: Everyday I see Canterbury becoming more liberal and more arrogant. This recent statement by the appointed spokesperson for Rowan Williams who is away will likely only deepen the resolve of the Global South.
Dr Sentamu - I shall be much more blunt that Mr. Morrow… Your statement represents all that I have become more and more resentful of the stand that Canterbury, York and TEC and ACC are taking. It appears that the truth is coming out.
Jesus said, “If you know the truth, the truth shall set you free” It appears that the Conservative Anglicans worldwide seem to be the ones that “Know the Truth (Jesus) more than the liberal minded church that is becoming more and more arrogant.
Posted by on 07/24 at 11:45 PMDr Sentamu - If you get to read this, I would think that you will realize that your outspoken and arrogant remarks will only deepen the resolve of the Global South to boycott. Is this what you are trying to avoid OR is it what you are trying to force?
Posted by on 07/24 at 11:47 PM“While liberal North Americans disagreed with conservatives over sexual ethics, these were not core issues, he said.” Here are some more “not core issues”… “sexual ethics(sexual orientations): COPROPHILIA,EXHIBITIONISM,FETISHISM/Sexual fetishism, FROTTEURISM, GAY/HOMOSEXUAL, GERONTOSEXUALITY, INCEST, KLEPTOPHILIA, KLISMAPHILIA, LESBIAN, LEWDNESS, MASTURBATION, NECROPHILIA, PARAPHILIA, PARTIALISM, PEDERASTY, PEDOPHILIA, BISEXUAL PEDOPHILIA, HETEROSEXUAL PEDOPHILIA, GAY PEDOPHILIA, LESBIAN PEDOPHILIA, PROSTITUTION, SEXUAL MASOCHISM, SEXUAL SADISM, TELEPHONE SCATALOGIA, TOUCHERISM, TRANSSEXUAL, TRANSVESTITE,
Posted by on 07/25 at 12:16 AMWhat Archbishop Sentamu and others fail to keep in mind is this: God sees all things. God’s justice is sure and everyone of us will give an accounting on the last day. God will take care of TEC, the Church of England and the Global South. The Church is the precious creation wrought through the blood of Christ Jesus, our God. Do you think that The Father doesn’t care that the Church is rent asunder by heresies and faithlessness?
Posted by on 07/25 at 10:08 AMEditor: I find it interesting that the comments made by Gary Morrow were deleted from this site. Might I enquire as to why?
Posted by on 07/25 at 10:39 PMThanks for drawing my attention to it, Brien. They weres read in a hurry (e.g. those words in post 6), and someone thought it is one of those nonsensical spam posts which our Web team need to delete from time to time.
Sincere apologies to Gary Morrow and please do continue to participate in the discussions.
Posted by on 07/25 at 11:28 PMI understand-May God protect Global South Anglican. Remember that those are only a few of many forms of man’s premodern, and postmodern “sexual ethics"(sexual orientations)- “vile affections”.
26 For this cause God gave them up to vile affections:
Posted by on 07/26 at 03:06 AMI Thank the Archbishop for his comments. But i think He should be able to face realities than chasing shadows. Our leaders should be able to see and call black, black and not white, black.I see Canterbury as not being open and this adds more injuries to the Anglican Communion

Remember the-- “not core issues”… “sexual ethics (sexual orientations)”:“…GAY PEDOPHILIA…”Additionally, can any one say--Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, 660 Million plus settlement--“not core issues”… “sexual ethics (sexual orientations)”
Finally, the perverted European Union is trying to shove this perversion down Europe’s throat. Recently, an employment tribunal [another Socialist Organization using law to force Conservatives to accept perversions] stated that Bishop Priddis Discriminated [another Socialist Word for anything goes]—“The respondents discriminated against the claimant on the grounds of sexual orientation,” said the judgment. Under the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003, it is illegal to discriminate against people as a result of their sexual orientation, but the law does contain an exemption for organised religion.” If the law does contain an exemption for organized religion- then how is there a case against Bishop Priddis? I tell you how, The Socialist Tribunal said to themselves, “We could care less about any exemptions for religious freedoms, we the Great overseers of Man will decide how the Churches will run their organizations, and we have decided that Churches will hire any pervert, and place perverts in all Churches through the Straw man of Nondiscrimination and Sexual Orientation, by man’s law over God’s Laws and Commandments. Posted by on 07/26 at 09:07 PMre Gary and Gerry,
I think the Editor was probably right when he thought that messages from the above were Spam!
When serious theological dialogue descends into invective - in the guise of Gospel Truth - then this site perhaps needs to edit our more of its content. My thought is that the title ‘Anglican’ really belongs to that part of the Church which has always consisted in the context of the catholic and reformed doctrine of the Church of England.
To resile from this liberality is to belong to yet another ‘reformed’ ecclesial body which has rejected the on-going guidance of the Holy Spirit - as received by the historic, and yet contemporary, Body of Christ. Perhaps one might call it the ‘Global South Reformed Church’ - but certainly not ‘Anglican’ - which has accepted the fact of on-going revelation from God which is not inconsistent with the discoveries of modern scientific and psychological research.God is nothing if not relevant, and to limit God to our own defective understanding of his mercy and love is to attempt to re-make him in our own image and likeness. “My ways are not your ways, nor my thoughts your thoughts”, say the Lord, and we’d better be open to whatever the Holy Spirit might be saying to the Church today - instead of relying only upon our (sometimes mistaken)understanding of what he might have been saying to past generations.
The story of the Pharisee and the Publican in the Gospels is a parable of Jesus which is vital to our ongoing understanding of our attitudes towards ‘sin’. Remember the words of Jesus when he was preparing for his departure from this world. “When the Holy Spirit comes, he will teach you the truth - about.....sin!” This word still needs fresh interpretation today.
Who among us is not a sinner? Jesus seemed to be more in sympathy with those who admitted their fallen human nature, and their need of God’s grace to better reflect the perfection of Christ which God requires of us all.
Mea culpa!
Posted by on 08/01 at 06:50 AMDear Father Ron Smith:
Oh I would that I could be so intelligent as to understand all that you write.
FIRST: Correct me if I am wrong, but did the Global South not spring up from missionaries that took the Gospel and The Holy Bible to Africa from England and were these not missionaries of the Church of England (The Anglican Church).“Who among us is not a sinner?” None of us. We are not sinners because we sin, but rather, we sin because we are sinners. I am one, You are one and all except Jesus were and are. I on’t expect that Gary would say that He is not a sinner, n’or do I. But did Jesus not say, “Go and sin no more”? Does that not mean that we are to repent and to TURN from our wicked ways? It doesn’t mean just to repent and keep on doing what you are doing in sin.
Those who sin through Homosexuality, etc. are given by the Grace of God, the opportunity to repent and then to GO AND SIN NO MORE. I am not of the mind that sexual activities such as homosexuality are not sins. If you can show me in the Holy Bible where they are said to not be sins, then and only then will you get my attention.
I am a sinner, saved by Grace and doing all that I can do to keep from turning back to my old self and old ways.
I rather doubt that the Global South Editors will find my writing to be spam, but more than likely to be closer to the truth than you would like to see them do.
Please Ron Smith, try not to be so condescending to the truth.
Posted by on 08/01 at 07:37 AMDear Pretend Father Ron Smith. I bet you would love it, if as you say, “then this site perhaps needs to edit our more of its content” so that the truth would br hidden from the people.
You know what they say--the truth really hurts.
Ron Smith continues: “Perhaps one might call it the ‘Global South Reformed Church’ - but certainly not ‘Anglican’ - which has accepted the fact of on-going revelation from God which is not inconsistent with the discoveries of modern scientific and psychological research.
Ron Smith trumpets psychological research, and why does he bring in the psychologists into his argumet, because this perverted institution fits his agenda:

Posted by on 08/01 at 05:31 PMYes, Gerry, I am a Sinner. May God bess you Gerry and continue to give you the strenght and the Words to fight Evil, A-men.
