Bishop William Waqo from the Anglican Church of Kenya passed away in plane crash

Dear Friend, Partners, Bishops and the entire Anglican fraternity,

RE: PROMOTION TO GLORY OF ASSISTANT BISHOP WILLIAM WAQO THE ACK’s PROVINCIAL SECRETARY AND PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO THE ARCHBISHOP OF KENYA

Greetings in the precious name of Jesus Christ this Lent season.

As you may have learnt from the media, our beloved Bishop William Waqo the Anglican Church of Kenya’s Provincial Secretary and Personal Assistant to the Archbishop of Kenya was involved in the plane accident that killed 15 Kenya government officials him included, as they traveled to Northern Kenya for a peace making mission yesterday at around 10.00 a.m.

As we write this note, we expect the remains of Bishop Waqo among others to be flown in at the Wilson Airport from the accident scene for identification and delivery to the family and the church this morning.  It is the desire of Mrs. Naomi Waqo and other family members to have the remains flown to their rural home in Marsabit for burial immediately thereafter.

We hope to arrange for a memorial service in Nairobi after the remains have been laid to rest, and after the family is back from Marsabit.

Continue praying for the family of the late Bishop Waqo for this great loss.  He is survived by his wife Naomi Jillo, Daughter Mary (15 yrs), Son Benson (about 11 yrs), Daughter Cherise (two years) and daughter Tabitha (three weeks old).

We shall keep you informed of any further developments.

Yours sincerely,

The Most Rev. Benjamin Nzimbi

ARCHBISHOP OF KENYA &

BISHOP OF ALL SAINTS CATHEDRAL DIOCESE
