Paul Kwong elected Primate of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui

The Rt. Rev Paul Kwong was elected as Primate of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (HKSKH) by bishops, clergy and deputies of the Anglican Church who met at St. Paul’s Church February 3 to choose a successor to the Most Rev. Peter Kwong who has served as Primate since 1998.

Paul Kwong, former provincial secretary of HKSKH, was elected bishop in December 2005, consecrated in March 2006 and enthroned as bishop of the Diocese of Hong Kong Island on January 6, 2007.

Paul Kwong is an alumnus of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) in Berkeley, California, and currently serves on the CDSP board.

The date of Paul Kwong’s installation as Primate has not yet been announced.

HKSKH was inaugurated as an Anglican province in 1997, making it the newest of the 38 provinces in the Anglican Communion.
